Installing Loyalty & Referrals on a BigCommerce Store

SiteVibes allows you to add a loyalty and referral program directly to your BigCommerce store. This guide walks through the basic steps to configure your program and install the on-site modules customers will interact with.

Once installed, customers will be able to earn points, redeem rewards, and refer friends directly from your store.

Step 1: Enable the Loyalty Program

First, confirm your loyalty program is enabled.

  • Log in to your SiteVibes Dashboard

  • Navigate to Loyalty → Programs → Settings

  • Enable the Loyalty Program

  • Optionally enable the Referral Program

You can also customize the program name that customers will see on your website.

Step 2: Configure Member Tiers

Member tiers allow you to reward customers based on their activity or points earned.

To create tiers:

  • Navigate to Loyalty → Programs → Member Tiers

  • Click Add New Tier

  • Enter the Tier Name (Example: Bronze, Silver, VIP)

  • Define the points threshold required to reach the tier

  • Save the tier

Customers will automatically move into higher tiers as they accumulate points.

Step 3: Configure Ways Customers Earn Points

Next, configure how customers will earn points in your program.

  • Navigate to Loyalty → Programs → Member Tiers

  • Select the tier you want to configure

  • Open the Ways to Earn section

Common earning actions include:

  • Placing an order

  • Creating an account

  • Writing a product review

  • Uploading a product photo

  • Birthday rewards

  • Social follows

Each action can be configured with a specific number of points.

Example:

  • 10 points per $1 spent

  • 100 points for creating an account

You can also configure different earning rates for different tiers.

Step 4: Create Rewards

Rewards allow customers to exchange their points for discounts or other benefits.

To create a reward:

  • Navigate to Loyalty → Rewards

  • Click Add New Reward

  • Select the reward type

Common reward types include:

  • Fixed dollar discount

  • Percentage discount

  • Free product

  • Free shipping

  • Points exchange

For example:

100 points = $5 off

You can create multiple reward options to give customers flexibility when redeeming points.

Step 5: Add the Loyalty Dashboard to Customer Accounts

The Rewards My Account module allows customers to view their loyalty activity inside their BigCommerce account.

This includes:

  • Current points balance

  • Available rewards

  • Tier status

  • Loyalty activity history

To install this module:

  • Navigate to
    Loyalty → On-site Modules → Rewards My Account

  • Enable the module

  • Copy the provided code snippet

  • Add the snippet to your BigCommerce customer account page template visible only to logged in users

Once installed, logged-in customers will see their loyalty dashboard inside their account area.

Step 6: Create a Loyalty Program Page

Most stores also create a dedicated loyalty program page explaining how the program works.

This page can display:

  • Ways customers can earn points

  • Available rewards

  • Tier benefits

To create this page:

  • Navigate to
    Loyalty → On-site Modules → Ways to Earn Module

  • Enable the module

  • Copy the provided code snippet

Then in BigCommerce:

  • Create a new page (example: /rewards or /loyalty)

  • Paste the module snippet into the page content

  • Save and publish the page

Customers can now view the full loyalty program directly from your store.

Step 7: Test Your Loyalty Program

Before launching your program to customers, we recommend testing the setup.

Check the following:

  • Points are awarded after a purchase

  • Rewards generate correctly

  • The loyalty modules appear properly on your site

  • Customers can view their points inside their account

Once confirmed, you can begin promoting your loyalty program to customers.
